The Philippines has been known as a melting pot of different cultures. The mixture of western and orient cultures has influenced a lot of Filipino lifestyles. Ranging from the political orientation down to the very taste buds of each Filipino, you will find the obvious contributions of these cultures.
There are different regions in the Philippines and each region is famous on a certain specialty. If you will be traveling in the northern part of the country, you will be feasting on its famous lechon baboy (roasted pig) and vegetables cooked with bagoong (shrimp paste). On your way down to the Bicol region, you will be tempted to taste and eventually pig out on their sumptuous spicy special food cooked in coconut milk.  The Visayan region is famous for its Inasal na manok (roasted chicken) and dried fish.
When it comes to Filipino restaurants, you will also be finding yourself surrounded with various restaurants that represent these regions.
